Matt Damon has recently admitted that his fatherhood experience in real life has helped him portray a father in The Odyssey movie.

The American actor, who plays a father Odysseus to Tom Holland character Telemachus in the Greek epic, emphasises on the importance of being a father to four daughters, whom he shares with wife Luciana.

In the Christopher Nolan movie, Damon character values his family and goes to great lengths to protect his loved ones while keeping his tradition intact.

Similarly, The Martian actor reveals he and his family are “trying to be mindful of holding onto” what they can which includes “non-negotiable tradition” that they have practiced for years.

“We have family dinner every night, and that’s non-negotiable, and it’s always been that way,” he tells PEOPLE.

Earlier, Damon also expressed his happiness for having all his daughters at the London premiere of the movie since his family “sacrificed” a lot for the movie.

“It’s great because they had to sacrifice a lot too for this,” said the 55-year-old.

The Jason Bourne actor pointed out that he “went away for a while, they came and visited, but it was a lot”.

“It was a very long movie, very gruelling shoot, and I’m really excited for my girls to see it tonight,” he added.

Meanwhile, The Odyssey is out in theatres today.
