Benny Blanco recently revealed he’s impressed by Selena Gomez for her bold stance on the US politics.
The music producer shared that the Emilia Perez actress publicly criticised of ICE and deportation policies.
“Some are, but there are also people who are afraid to speak out. Perhaps they think it could affect their work,” he told OK! magazine.
Nevertheless, Benny confessed that he was hesitant to discuss politics until and unless anyone wanted to ask for his views.
“It's a recurring debate whether public figures should take sides in these matters or if it's unfair to burden them with that responsibility,” said the music producer.
Benny explained, “I would never bring up the topic on my own initiative. After all, I'm just a guy who makes music and happens to be particularly good at jokes.”
Selena’s husband clarified that he’s not a historian or a politician, and he never meddles where he’s not wanted because of lack of his political knowledge.
The Eastside hitmaker comments come months after the Only Murders in the Building actress shared emotional reaction to the US president Donald Trump’s administration's immigration enforcement efforts.
In 2025, Selena posted a video on her social media after Donald endorsed deportations of undocumented immigrants.
In the video, she said, “I just wanted to say that I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I’ll try everything. I promise.”
This is not the first time Selena talked about immigration policies. Back in 2019, the singer-actress produced Living Undocumented on Netflix, showing the lives of undocumented families under Donald’s first presidency.
