Benny Blanco has opened up about the decision he and Selena Gomez made before sharing their romance with fans.
During the latest sit down, the 38-year-old music producer revealed that he and Gomez kept their romance private for around eight or nine months before sharing it with the world.
In an interview with Spanish newspaper El País, the record producer shared, “We kept our relationship private for a long time, about eight or nine months.”
He went on to add, “And she asked me, ‘Are you sure you want to do this? I understand if you want us to just be friends.’”
Moreover, he added, “And then I said, ‘You know what? Screw it.’ We’re lucky because we both have friends and family we’ve known since before all this, and we’re surrounded by a good group of people we love.”
Meanwhile, Blanco said Gomez’s fame was one of the reasons behind their discussion, admitting, that he is still adjusting to the attention around his personal life.
“I don’t like to expose my life,” he told outlet. “Famous people are under constant scrutiny: if you say one thing, it’s wrong, and if you say another, it’s also wrong.”
