Sydney Sweeney recently reacted on her most controversial ad.

The American Eagle ad’s campaign used pun, "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans," as genes to promote their brand's denim. Following a buzz on ‘jeans as genes’ and meme stock icon overnight.

Since the ad featured this year, netizens sparked critiques of racism and glorification of having blue eyes and being white, other thought the concept 'good jeans' and 'good genes' was catered to the male gaze and was overly sexual.

The 28-year-old was before asked about 'good genes' ad multiple times, but she dodged question and avoided taking any responsibility for it.

While promoting her new film Christy, the actress was asked again on which she argued with The Guardian that she has no control over people perception, "Like you’re going to write this article… Then people will read it and have their own perception. So I try and be as much of me as possible, but it’s always through other people’s lenses."

Sweeney has stated before, "It was surreal… it’s not that I didn’t have that feeling, but I wasn’t thinking of it like that. Or like, of any of it. I kind of just put my phone away,"

Addressing the magazine earlier, the Euphoria star claimed, "I was filming every day. I’m filming Euphoria, so I’m working 16-hour days and I don’t really bring my phone on set, so I work and then I go home and I go to sleep. So I didn’t really see a lot of it."

Sydney’s new biopic Christy has made a dismal $1.3 million over the weekend, and joined the top 12 worst ever openings for a film showing on more than 2000 screens, per Box Office Mojo.
