Prince William, Kate left tenants ‘unhappy’ after evicting them from dream home

The truth behind Prince William and Kate Middleton’s beloved country home, Anmer Hall has been revealed by a royal expert.

Royal correspondent Richard Eden admitted on the Daily Mail Royals podcast that he was the one to break the news to the estate’s former tenants that they would have to vacate the 10-bedroom property to make way for the couple.

The Georgian mansion, located on the Sandringham Estate, was gifted to the Prince and Princess of Wales as a belated wedding present by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

But the home already had residents, James Everett, owner of Norfolk Oak, and his family.

They had signed a lease until 2017, but one clause allowed the Crown to reclaim the property for royal use. Eden recalled: “I rang him and said, ‘Actually, we’ve heard your house is about to be given to William and Catherine.’ He wasn’t that happy.”

The family eventually moved elsewhere, while Anmer Hall underwent a £1.5 million refurbishment privately funded by the Royal Family.
