The first official joint portrait of Prince William and Kate Middleton is getting a brand-new home, ensuring it will be more accessible to the public.

The celebrated artwork, painted by Jamie Coreth in 2021 and commissioned by the Cambridgeshire Royal Portrait Fund, was originally unveiled at the Fitzwilliam Museum before touring community spaces across the county.

Now, it has been confirmed the portrait will have a permanent home at Peterborough Cathedral.

Julie Spence, Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, announced the move on X, writing: “Our fabulous portrait of The Prince and Princess of Wales as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will now be on display @pborocathedral so it is easily accessible for our residents and visitors in the north of the county and they can enjoy it.”

Artist Jamie Coreth previously described painting the royal couple as the “extraordinary privilege” of his life, adding he wanted the piece to show the pair as both “relaxed and approachable” while remaining “elegant and dignified.”
