Princess Beatrice’s wedding day is back in the spotlight after Amazon’s hit drama A Very Royal Scandal depicted a tense and “savage” moment between the royal and her disgraced father, Prince Andrew.
The series, which premiered in September 2024, dramatizes how Andrew was notably absent from Beatrice’s official wedding portraits with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, on July 17, 2020.
In the show, Beatrice, played by The Souvenir star Honor Swinton Byrne, is seen asking her father to step aside so photos could be taken with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
“Daddy, would you mind stepping aside just for this next? We’re going to take an official picture with Granny and Grandpa,” Beatrice tells him in the episode.
Andrew, played by Michael Sheen, reluctantly agrees: “No, no, no. Ab… absolutely.” Melancholic music plays as the Duke of York walks away, underlining the drama of the moment.
