Lola Tung and Christopher Briney recently opened up about the upcoming The Summer I Turned Pretty movie, which will continue after the events of season 3.
In conversation with Entertainment Tonight, the two leads of the romantic series were asked how long they had known about the movie.
Tung, who plays Belly Corkin, laughs as she replies, “For about a year, which is crazy.” Her answer suggested that Jenny Han, the creator of the show, already planned a feature-length movie instead of dragging the show out.
Briney admitted, “I’ve known about it conceptually, and Jenny was very secretive about it.”
Han’s relationship with the 22-year-old actress is closer than that of other co-stars, as the duo attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour together in 2024.
Notably, netizens are speculating that the movie will be titled We’ll Always Have Summer, as per the book. The plot will possibly follow Belly and Conrad’s wedding while wrapping up the supporting characters’ storylines.
For the unversed, the third season concluded on September 17 with Belly choosing Conrad as her one true love and moving into the beach house in Cousins.
Previously, Han hinted at a ‘milestone’ being covered in the plot for the upcoming film that fans aren’t aware of. Moreover, details are being kept under wraps, with only the script draft being completed.
As of now, no release date for the film has been confirmed.
No, Lola Tung is not in a relationship as the actress hasn’t confirmed any details about her love life.
