Pedro Pascal joins Hollywood stars who supports Jimmy Kimmel
Emmy-nominated actor Pedro Pascal spoke out for Jimmy Kimmel after ABC suspended him on political grounds.
The MCU alum, on Thursday, September 18, took to Instagram to defend the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host amidst ABC’s infidelity shutdown decision.
“Standing with you @jimmykimmellive,” Pascal wrote alongside an image of the two of them on the late-night show. “Defend #FreeSpeech Defend #DEMOCRACY.”
Pascal, who is a prominent part of Disney/Marvel’s film The Fantastic Four: First Steps and is among the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, did not refrain from showing his solidarity with Kimmel.
Pascal is not alone in making such a statement, joining fellow Marvel stars like Tatiana Maslany, who urged audiences to boycott ABC’s parent company and cancel their Disney subscriptions.
Other high-profile names, including Damon Lindelof, vowed they would refuse to work with Disney until the show was reinstated.
The backlash has also drawn voices beyond Marvel. Andor writer and newly crowned Emmy winner Dan Gilroy wrote a guest column in Deadline condemning the move as an act of “venomous evil” and a governmental “siege.”
Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner criticised the decision as a sign of poor leadership at the Mouse House, while guilds across Hollywood have rallied in protest, with writers and actors gathering outside Disney’s Burbank lot.
