Leighton Meester, Jared Padalecki set to lead romcom 'The Bodyguard'
'The Bodyguard' is adapted from a novel by Katherine Center
Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki recently teamed up for a romantic comedy film, which has sent fans into a frenzy.
As per Netflix, the two actors will lead Katherine Centre's book adaptation, which was first optioned by the streaming giant in 2023.
Notably, filming is set to begin in December of this year in Canada, with Jared and his wife Genevieve serving as producers of the film, while Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum will direct it.
Netizens took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their excitement about the duo’s new movie. One fan wrote, “OMGGG 14-year-old me would’ve passed out.” Another well-wisher penned, “Wow, this looks like a fun movie!!!!!!”
For the unversed, The Bodyguard follows an unassuming female bodyguard, Hannah Brooks, who is hired to protect a famous movie star, Jack Stapleton, from a stalker.
The Supernatural star will portray the infamous Jack, while the Gossip Girl alum will play the skilled Hannah. More details about the cast and plot haven’t been released yet.
Meanwhile, Meester has had a busy year, playing Lou Hickman in the series Good Cop/Bad Cop, while also having supporting roles in The Buccaneers and Nobody Wants This.
On the other hand, Padalecki will reunite with his Supernatural co-star, Jensen Ackles, in the fifth season of The Boys, while also filming the upcoming Gilmore Girls documentary.
As of now, there is no premiere date for The Bodyguard.
