Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Updates segment took shots at King Charles III’s visit to America to celebrate the latter’s 250th anniversary.
The segment’s co-host Michael Che remarked on the Monarch meeting up with the New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani amid his whistlestop tour of the northeast.
“I'm surprised he didn't take Mamdani back to England with him, because he is an Indian treasure,” the comedian joked on the sketch comedy show.
He was referring to the 34-year-old’s prior remarks in which he urged the 77-year-old to return the Koh-i-Noor diamond to India, after it was taken by the East India Company in 1849.
Che’s co-host Colin Jost also poked fun at the travels, adding that the visit was also “to seek the release of a British hostage being held by an American terrorist,” as an image of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle flashed on the screen.
Jost ended the discussion over the trip by alleging that the President of the United States could reach the Brits by ringing up former Prince Andrew, who has been stripped of his titles due to his connections to the convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Notably, Trump has denied having any connection to the late financier but images of them have been released in the infamous Epstein files.
