Kate Middleton and Prince William's new portrait sends royal fans into frenzy

Prince William and Kate Middleton set social media alight tonight after Kensington Palace released a brand-new behind-the-scenes portrait of the couple ahead of the state banquet at Windsor Castle in honour of US President Donald Trump.

The Princess of Wales dazzled in a couture gown by British designer Phillipa Lepley, featuring a full-length, hand-embroidered gold Chantilly lace evening coat layered over a silk crepe gown, a nod to her ongoing support of UK designers. 

Completing the look, Kate wore the iconic Lover’s Knot tiara along with earrings once belonging to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The portrait, alongside a candid snap of the couple’s departure, quickly sent royal fans into overdrive.

One Instagram user gushed: “Holy WOW. they look unbelievably gorgeous! And Catherine, she is THE MOMENT. She looks stunning.”

Another wrote: “Omg I’m at a loss for words. They both look so beautiful, but Princess Catherine… omg, the dress, the tiara, everything!”
