US President Donald Trump took a moment to shower praise on Kate Middleton during tonight’s lavish state banquet at Windsor Castle.
The 79-year-old President and First Lady Melania were hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla in what marked Trump’s unprecedented second state visit to the UK.
In his speech, Trump said: “His Majesty has also raised a remarkable son in His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales. Really amazing. We’ve gotten to know you and I think you’re going to have an unbelievable success in future."
"Melania and I are delighted to visit again with Prince William and to see Her Royal Highness, Princess Catherine, so radiant and so healthy; it’s so beautiful. It’s really a great honour, thank you.”
King Charles also addressed the banquet, thanking the President for his dedication to “finding solutions to some of the world’s most intractable conflicts”.
His Majesty injected humour into his remarks, joking about Britain’s “splendid golf courses” and recalling the time the US media tried to marry him off to President Nixon’s daughter, Tricia, back in the 1970s.
