Ned Fulmer has returned to the spotlight after three years to address the affair scandal that nearly destroyed his career and the status of his marriage.
After the most viral cheating scandal of 2022, Fulmer appeared in his first interview since, saying he felt “ready to share my story and to move on into a new chapter” with PEOPLE.
“For a long time, I wanted nothing to do with social media or the internet,” said Fulmer. “I didn't think it was particularly beneficial to my mental health.”
Once away from the camera, Fulmer began to reconnect by being honest with his wife about the affair and, as he said, by “trying to understand why I had done what I had done.”
Fulmer tried to minimise the damage by starting a journey toward healing, but above all, he “cared the most about his wife,” Ariel.
“That was most devastating to work through and to realise — how much pain I had caused her,” he said. “If I were looking at a past version of myself, how I’d really want to change [is] the way I’d been interacting with her.”
The pair began couples therapy, speaking with a professional about their relationship and the infidelity.
“It’s certainly stronger than it was before,” Fulmer said of his relationship with Ariel. “We have a much clearer sense of boundaries — understanding and respecting each other’s boundaries — as well as integrity and being direct with each other, even when it might be unpleasant.”
“Every cent that we spent on therapy was worth it for the improvements in our family life,” the content creator noted.
In September 2022, The Try Guys shocked fans when Fulmer admitted to an affair with an employee, tarnishing his long-standing “wife guy” image.
The scandal quickly unraveled, leading Keith, Zach, and Eugene to announce his departure and edit him out of future videos.
Fulmer’s cheating controversy became one of Time’s “most viral moments” of 2022 and even inspired an SNL parody.
After issuing a brief Instagram statement about a “consensual workplace relationship,” he vanished from social media, stepping away from the online presence he once built alongside wife Ariel and their two children.
