Oscar-winning American legend Robert Redford has passed away at the age of 89.
The Hollywood golden boy breahed his last at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah.
Often dubbed as the “godfather for independent cinema” passed away on September 16.
The news was announced by his publicist Cindi Berger.
The statement read, “Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah–the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved. He will be missed greatly.”
The family has requested for privacy in this time of sorrow.
Robert was known for his role in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid along with contributions in All the President’s Men.
His passion led him to create a nonprofit organization, Sundance Institute, that supports independent film and theater.
He was also a known environmentalist as he moved to the mountains of Utah in 1961 and dedicated his life to preserve the natural landscape of the state.
