The upcoming DC Universe film Clayface has reportedly teased Robert Pattinson’s Batman, fueling fan theories that he might appear in the franchise.
However, DC Studios chief James Gunn has spilt the truth about the confusing images.
Alongside other projects in the works for the DCU’s Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, the villain will headline his own solo movie in 2026.
Clayface, currently in production, introduces Matt Hagen into Gunn’s franchise while also marking the character’s live-action debut.
As the James Watkins-directed film began principal photography, new set images surfaced, featuring Pattinson’s Batman logo on a trash can from the set.
After months of speculation, one fan finally asked Gunn, who remains highly active on social media, about Batman’s potential appearance in the film.
“James, people are saying the merge is happening after seeing the Battinson logo on the Clayface set. However, I don’t think you guys would confirm something this big like this, right?” the fan wrote on Threads.
“Although the trash can is from the set, I have a hard time believing the bat was put there by the art department. But if so, it never came across my desk — I don’t have time to okay every piece of set dressing,” Gunn replied.
