Crunchyroll’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle marks not only the biggest opening of 2025, but also one of Sony’s strongest Crunchyroll debuts to date.

The film is poised for a thunderous $56–60 million launch after raking in a jaw-dropping $33 million on its opening day.

Industry trackers note that anime releases are typically front-loaded, with Saturday expected to decline by around 41% to approximately $19.5 million. Still, some insiders suggest this cinematic castle could rise higher than expected, with projections climbing as far as $70 million.

Infinity Castle has already outpaced Sony’s recent releases, overtaking this year’s 28 Years Later ($30M) and even outmuscling last year’s big titles like Venom: The Last Dance ($51M), It Ends With Us ($50M), and potentially Bad Boys: Ride or Die ($56.5M).

Sony hasn’t witnessed an opening of this magnitude since Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse swung into theatres with a staggering $120.6M back in June 2023.

Plot-wise, the movie follows Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, alongside the Hashira, as they descend into Muzan Kibutsuji’s menacing Infinity Castle.

With shifting halls and relentless demons lurking at every turn, their mission is clear: defeat Muzan and his most powerful Upper Moons, protect humanity, and finally break the centuries-long curse of demons.
