Prince Harry is reportedly “seriously homesick” and has started reaching out to his old friends in the UK as his four-day trip back home continues.
The Duke of Sussex, who now lives in Montecito, California with Meghan Markle and their two children, has been busy with charity engagements during his UK visit.
But insiders say Harry has been showing signs of missing his former life and close circle of friends.
“Spike [Harry’s nickname among his old school friends] is seriously homesick. He’s started reaching out to us more and more,” one pal told The Standard.
“It started with very long and earnest WhatsApps… gradually, he seems to be sounding more normal.”
Friends say Harry’s attempts at reconnection often happen when Meghan isn’t around, with one source adding: “Whenever anyone goes to America they try to see him. It never seems to be with Meghan though. We think he is beginning to pine for home.”
Meanwhile, a royal courtier insisted the rift is painful for both sides. “Harry seems to have forgotten this but his father always absolutely adored him."
"He always called him ‘my darling boy’ and was so affectionate,” they said, adding that many of Harry’s best qualities come directly from King Charles.
