Katharine, Duchess of Kent, who passed away this week aged 92, shared a touching connection to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The late royal, who stepped back from public duties in 2002, surprised many when she attended the Sussexes’ Windsor wedding in 2018, the last royal wedding she was seen at.
Smiling for cameras, she arrived in a patterned dress, paired with white trainers and a fascinator.
Though visibly frail and assisted into St George’s Chapel, the Duchess’s presence marked a rare return to the spotlight. It was also one of her final major public appearances.
In recent years, she was spotted only occasionally, including her last appearance in 2023 when she watched a birthday performance for her husband, the Duke of Kent, from her wheelchair.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the Duchess died peacefully at home in Kensington Palace surrounded by family, prompting a wave of tributes from royal watchers.
