Prince Harry, William may have tense encounter at Duchess of Kent's funeral

Prince Harry and Prince William may be forced into an uncomfortable reunion following the death of the Duchess of Kent, who passed away at age 92 on Thursday evening.

Harry, 40, is due in the UK on September 8 for the WellChild Awards, though it’s unclear if he will extend his visit to attend the Duchess’s Catholic funeral, expected to take place next week. 

His wife Meghan Markle and their children, Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, will remain in California.

If Harry does attend, it could mark his first encounter with Prince William in months, amid ongoing tensions between the brothers. 

The Duchess of Kent had been close to their late mother, Princess Diana, often seen together at royal events and Wimbledon.

The Prince and Princess of Wales released a heartfelt tribute, calling the late Duchess “much missed” and praising her lifelong dedication to helping others.

Harry, meanwhile, will continue his role as patron of WellChild, attending the awards ceremony for the 15th time.
