Prince Harry privately reaches out after Duchess of Kent dies at 92

Prince Harry has privately extended his condolences to the family of Katharine, Duchess of Kent, following her death at the age of 92, PEOPLE reports.

The Duchess of Kent, who was married to Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, passed away peacefully at Kensington Palace on September 4. 

Buckingham Palace confirmed the news, sharing that she died “surrounded by her family.”

Known for stepping back from royal duties in 1996 to focus on teaching music and charity work, the Duchess still attended key family events, including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018.

Prince William and Princess Kate also honoured her legacy with a personal tribute on social media, writing: “The Duchess worked tirelessly to help others and supported many causes, including through her love of music. She will be a much missed member of the family.”

Prince Harry, 40, is due to arrive in the UK within days to attend the WellChild Awards on September 8, an event he has supported for 17 years.
