The Star Wars prop that was set to be auctioned is finally sold.

Star Wars is one of the most successful franchises in Hollywood and now it is approaching its 50th anniversary.

The prop was due to be auctioned ahead of the 50th anniversary celebrations.

The item used during the movie shoots was the iconic Star Wars weapon, lightsaber.

The weapon was used by actor David Prowse and his stunt double Bob Anderson in famous fight scenes in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Darth Vader’s lightsaber was sold for a jaw dropping $3,654,000.

Previously, it was being speculated that the prop could go for up to go for $3 million.

It was sold on Thursday, September 4, in Los Angeles.

The prop was being reported to be the only ever lightsaber from the original Star Wars trilogy to ever go up for auction.

Other sales from the auction included Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man costume and Leonardo DiCaprio's screen-matched Betty Flamethrower from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
