A bombshell exposé has just made headlines, and it lumps big names Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johansson, Anne Hathaway and others together due to a surprising privacy violation coming to light.
The controversy centers around the fairly recent and unpolished versions of Artificial Intelligence which are easily accessible to the general public.
In the report published by Reuters, Meta (a tech company responsible for social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram) provided easy access to tools for building chatbots posing as the massive Hollywood celebrities.
However, the chatbots were “flirty” and “routinely made sexual advances,” toward the person engaging with them.
If asked to deliver intimate pictures of the celebrities, the chatbot “produced photorealistic images of their namesakes posing in bathtubs or dressed in lingerie with their legs spread,” in their likeness.
The rogue bots would often insist that they are the real actors or singers they were posing as, as well as inviting test-users for real-life meetups.
Since the exposé was made public on Friday, Meta has removed a good amount of them from its platforms.
Notably, many of these unauthorised bots were created by users, with two of Swift’s “parody” avatars being put out by an employee of the company.
No, as of writing this, Taylor, Scarlett, Anne or Selena have not publicly remarked on the report or its concerning findings.
