Former actress and author Jennette McCurdy has broken the internet once again, this time with the announcement of her debut fiction novel.

McCurdy made her name as a writer after dropping her mega hit memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died, which attracted major backlash over the title.

However, it went on to become hugely successful, exposing her mother’s abusive behaviour. It is now set to be turned into a series starring Jennifer Aniston, with McCurdy as the executive producer.

Her new book, called Half His Age, will follow a 17 year old high school girl named Waldo who gets involved in a romantic relationship with her married teacher.

The Nickelodeon star described it as “a novel about s**, class, consumerism, power, self-discovery… as seen through the eyes of one very lonely teenage girl.”

“Something I learned from the first book that I really wanted to take into this one is that the more uncomfortable something is to write, the more important it is to write,” she continued.

People on the internet began to accuse McCurdy of romanticizing grooming and abuse, even though she has suffered that herself.

However, others defended her, explaining that the exploration of dark topics is not the same as condoning it.
