Meghan Markle has opened up about one of the most difficult periods of her life as a mother.

In the second season of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, 44, revealed that being away from her two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, during Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022 left her “not well.”

Speaking with Queer Eye star Tan France in episode three, Meghan admitted that the longest she has gone without her children was nearly three weeks.

“I was… not well,” she confessed, referencing her extended stay in the UK following the Queen’s death.

At the time, Meghan and Prince Harry had already been in Europe for charity events when news of the monarch’s declining health broke.

Their short trip quickly turned into 17 days abroad, with the couple attending the state funeral before finally returning to Montecito.

In his memoir Spare, Harry also described the separation as “difficult days,” saying the couple “couldn’t let [the children] out of their sight” once home.

Now raising Archie and Lilibet in California, Meghan says she’s enjoying motherhood more than ever, while also rediscovering her passions through her Netflix series.
