Jay-Z, who last released a record with 2017’s critically acclaimed 4:44, could be working on new music amid ongoing legal battles.
Following a recent encounter in Las Vegas, the 55-year-old icon’s long-time collaborator Memphis Bleek suggested the rapper might be back in the studio.
Speaking on the Drink Champs podcast, Bleek recalled: “He came out during the show and the crowd went wild. I said, ‘Listen, I know you’re working. Save me a verse.’
“He replied, ‘Alright, I got you.’ So if it happens, it happens.”
While fans may be anticipating fresh material, Jay-Z has recently faced turbulence away from music.
The hip-hop star, known for his chart-topping hits, was recently involved in two high-profile legal cases.
Notably, one brought by a woman accusing him and Diddy of rape when she was 13, and another by a man claiming to be his son.
Both cases have since been dismissed, with the 99 Problems rapper strongly denying the allegations.
In response, Jay-Z has filed a defamation lawsuit against the woman and her attorney, Tony Buzbee, arguing that the accusations damaged his reputation and cost him major opportunities.
For the unversed, his attorneys filed a motion to have the case thrown out on July 18.
Jay-Z is currently married to Beyoncé. The couple married in April 2008 and have three children together, Blue Ivy Carter and twins Rumi and Sir Carter.
