Chris Martin reveals surprising musical inspiration

Chris Martin, the globally renowned musician, has revealed the driving force behind Coldplay’s future sound.

The 48-year-old frontman credited Charli XCX as a key influence, praising her for creating music that makes listeners feel “alive and connected.”

He singled out the 33-year-old artist’s latest album, Brat, as particularly inspiring.

Writing in the official programme for the band’s Music of the Spheres world tour, Martin reflected, “I’m still such a fan of music and constantly observing other artists.”

On Charli XCX, he added, “If I see Charli doing Von Dutch, I think, ‘This is the finest thing I’ve ever witnessed.’”

Coldplay released their tenth studio album, Moon Music, last October.

While the singer has suggested the group will conclude after 12 “proper albums” to preserve their legacy, bassist Guy Berryman noted, “Chris is never going to stop composing… We’re still years away from any kind of retirement.”

Furthermore, he explained that limiting the number of albums ensures high standards.

“There are only seven Harry Potters. Only 12 and a half Beatles albums… Setting a cap means the quality control is exceptionally high,” he said.
