Cardi B, who created several chart-topping hits, stirred great anticipation for her upcoming second studio album Am I the Drama?
However, after the 32-year-old released her new track Imaginary Playerz, it seemingly did not sit well with the music lovers. They started a debate about its success.
The second lead, which sampled the original melody by Jay Z, debuted at #147 on the US Spotify with around 336,686 streams.
One of the X users penned down their opinion: “No Saturday rise for her which means this song is truly a FLOP.”
After listening to the song, another critic gushed: “All that hype for cardi b imaginary playerz and it was garbage.”
A third music lover predicted about the record, which is about to release on September 19, 2025: “since imaginary playerz did not perform well on Spotify that means [her] album will not do well.”
A netizen carefully analysed the track, pointing out that it “lacks depth, lyricism, creativity and it was dry.” “She is morphing into a rap version of J Lo,” they added.
Previously, the Up crooner decided to stop playing a nice girl and become a villain, clapping back at haters with melodies in her sophomore album.
Meanwhile, the projection of her leads paint a grim picture for the upcoming project and many speculate that the “new version” of the rapper might not be good enough.
On the contrary, her solo single Bodak Yellow was a hit that debuted at 85 on US Spotify, earning 76 million streams globally.
