Drake’s music label has repeatedly denied their involvement in his defamation and the promotion of his rap rival Kendrick Lamar’s diss track Not Like Us, but his latest filings have made the company issue two separate, sharp responses.

The Family Matters rapper’s legal team had previously requested that emails between Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge along with other confidential information be handed over in the case.

In response, the 65-year-old issued a declaration letter of his own with the Southern District of New York, noting that the claims were “farcical,” “nonsensical,” “groundless and indeed ridiculous.”

Lucian, who was accused of devaluing Drake’s brand, has come out to say that he is doing the exact opposite of that, writing that he has purchased a bulk of his recording catalog, publishing rights and has invested millions into his brand.

The company head reveals, “Given Drake’s motion, I would like to make it quite clear that I had never heard the recording ‘Not Like Us,’ nor ever saw the corresponding cover art or music video, until after they were released by Interscope Records.”

Meanwhile in a different letter by UMG, the company highlights that the Nokia rapper suggesting that there is an imaginary secret conspiracy going on at the top of the chain of command is simply absurd.

When did Drake sue UMG?

Drake initially sued his and Kendrick’s record label for conspiring to inflate streaming figures of Not Like Us, before withdrawing it and filing another one for defamation.
