Drake has made some bold requests in a new filing against UMG, requesting highly sensitive information from the CEO of the company and from his rap rival Kendrick Lamar.

The Family Matters rapper is firing back against his and the Euphoria rapper’s record label Universal Music Group (UMG) by asking for the CEO, Sir Lucian Grainge's personal information, as well as the 22-time Grammy winner’s contract with the label.

In the latest filing, the Canadian native’s legal team writes “UMG’s refusal to even search Mr. Grainge’s custodial files is unjustified obstruction,” which they seek to rectify by being granted the company head’s files along with his emails.

Furthermore, they claim that Kendrick’s contract details are currently heavily redacted, and are depriving the plaintiff (Drake) of “critical context.”

As a result, the In My Feelings rapper’s attorneys want “an unredacted copy of Kendrick Lamar’s recording contract with UMG.”

The record label has already dismissed the 38-year-old’s defamation claims more than once, even warning the rapper that he would be open to discovery too, if he doesn’t drop his baseless and frivolous suit.

When will the Drake vs UMG trial begin?

The lawsuit filed by Drake’s legal representatives is currently in its initial stages, so the trial is expected to begin in summer of 2026. However, it is common in defamation cases for the two parties to reach a settlement before the trial.
