Idris Elba shocked the Rudimental band members after casually dialling Guy Ritchie in the studio to ask him for a favour.

The drum-brass trio, Piers Aggett, Kesi Dryden, and Leon "Locksmith" Rolle, recalled the time when the 52-year-old actor walked into their recording studio.

In conversation with the Daily Star newspaper, Agget recalled, “In the middle of the studio session, he just calls Guy Ritchie, and he's on a shoot, but Idris is like, 'Have you ever done a music video? You should do their music video.”

The drummer was surprised at Elba’s move and said, “It was a really funny day because he was just casually calling Guy Ritchie.”

The Luther star sings in the band’s upcoming track, London Burning, which, according to the boys, has a heavy sound.

Later in the interview, the Rudimental praised Elba, calling him the ‘coolest person on earth’ who happily recorded a birthday message for Dryden’s girlfriend.

Notably, Idris Elba and Guy Ritchie worked on the 2008 film, RocknRolla, where Elba played the lead character and Ritchie directed the movie.

Though the duo hasn’t collaborated on any other projects aside from the film, the upcoming music video might bring the pair back after 17 years.

In June 2025, the Heads of State star partnered with King Charles to work on a Netflix documentary about a charity foundation founded in 1976 by the King of England, titled The King’s Trust.

Meanwhile, Guy Ritchie’s latest film, Fountain of Youth, premiered on May 3, 2025, with Natalie Portman playing the leading lady.

As of now, the filmmaker has not confirmed whether he will direct the music video for Rudimental.
