BLACKPINK Lisa's extraordinary journey takes centre stage in new documentary

BLACKPINK superstar Lisa is ready to show fans a side of herself they have never seen before as her first documentary, Always Lalisa, heads to the 51st Toronto International Film Festival this September.

Directed by Sue Kim, the film follows the Thai-born singer over the course of a year, capturing the highs, challenges and personal moments behind her remarkable rise as a solo artist. 

From creating her debut album Alter Ego to taking the stage alone at Coachella 2025 and making her acting debut in The White Lotus season three, the documentary promises an intimate look at one of music's biggest global stars.

Rather than focusing solely on sold-out shows and glamorous appearances, Always Lalisa shines a light on the woman behind the fame. 

Despite becoming one of the world's most recognisable K-pop idols, LISA insists she still sees herself as "just an ordinary girl from Thailand".

The documentary also arrives after an extraordinary year for the 29-year-old performer. 

Alongside starring in HBO's hit drama, she performed at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Anitta and Rema and became the first K-pop artist to land a Las Vegas residency with her VIVA LA LISA show at Caesars Palace.

The songstress recently admitted she stepped into acting because she was searching for fresh inspiration after spending more than a decade in music.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, she explained that doing the same thing for over 10 years made her eager to challenge herself creatively. 

Although she once had little interest in acting, she revealed her mother had encouraged her to attend acting school as a child.
