Johnny Depp’s band reveals what’s holding back new album

Johnny Depp’s lavish lifestyle has become the latest target of his Hollywood Vampires bandmates, who have jokingly blamed the actor for delaying the group’s long-awaited next album.

The hard rock supergroup, made up of Depp, shock rocker Alice Cooper, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and Tommy Henriksen, has not released a record since Rise in 2019. 

While the band insists another album is firmly on the cards, they admit getting everyone together is no easy feat.

Speaking to Classic Rock magazine, Alice laughed that the biggest challenge is persuading the Pirates of the Caribbean star to emerge from his “44-room castle”.

“I can’t imagine there not being another record,” Alice said. 

“But we all have pretty demanding day jobs. And you want to try getting Johnny out of his 44-room castle.”

Joe Perry also revealed that not everyone around Depp is thrilled when he steps away from acting to focus on music. 

However, the guitarist insisted Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star remains fully committed whenever he joins the band.

“I can tell you that some people in his camp are not happy he’s taking a couple of months out to play music,” Joe said. 

“But when it’s time for Johnny to play guitar, he knows it’s time.”

Despite the album delay, fans won’t have to wait long to see the Hollywood Vampires in action. 

The band head to the UK next month, kicking off with a show at London’s The O2 before touring Cardiff, Scarborough, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, Colchester and Halifax ahead of a string of European dates.

Alice also admitted choosing the setlist is always the toughest part of touring, thanks to the band’s vast catalogue of originals and classic covers. 

Thankfully, Tommy Henriksen takes charge of the first draft, with the rest of the band offering their own suggestions before the final running order is locked in.
