Orlando Bloom makes shocking admission about health crisis

Orlando Bloom, who recently parted ways with singer Katy Perry, faced significant mental challenges while preparing for his role in the psychological thriller The Cut.

The 48-year-old actor plays a retired boxer who undergoes a harsh weight-loss journey to compete for a championship.

To get into shape, Bloom worked with a nutritionist and lost around 30 pounds (13.6 kg) over three months.

He revealed to People magazine that the intense dieting affected his mental health more than he expected.

"The paranoia and anxiety were very real and disturbing, caused by the lack of sleep – it turns out you can't sleep when you're hungry!" he told the outlet.

“The mental strain caught me off guard.”

Furthermore, the Pirates of the Caribbean star disclosed that, as filming progressed, he had to reduce his water intake to reach his lowest weight for the final scenes.

“The water restriction to get to my lowest weight for the final scenes led to obsessive thoughts of food, dreaming of what I could eat when finally off a diet of tuna and cucumber,” he shared.

Perry’s ex-fiancé emphasised that such a drastic diet should not be attempted without expert supervision.

Throughout the process, Dr Philip Goglia, a professional nutritionist, regularly checked his health and monitored his blood work.

The Cut, which also stars Caitríona Balfe and John Turturro, is scheduled to be released in US cinemas on September 05.
