Noah Centineo is set to make a powerful return to the big screen after joining the cast of an untitled Rambo prequel.

The 29-year-old actor will reportedly portray the iconic anti-hero, John Rambo, character, who was originally portrayed by Sylvester Stallone.

According to Deadline, Millennium Media, a production and sales firm, announced the film is in early development. It will be directed by Jalmari Helander and written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani.

The prequel is slated to start production in Thailand in 2026. Though the plot details are being kept under wraps, fans are aware that the story will follow a young John Rambo during the Vietnam War.

Notably, the above-mentioned outlet asked its sources if Stallone is involved in the latest instalment. They said the 79-year-old actor has denied the rumours but was aware of Centineo’s role.

For the unversed, Sylvester Stallone first portrayed John Rambo in the 1988 film First Blood, which was adapted from a novel by David Morrell. Later, the franchise grew with five additional sequels and went on to make $800 million at the box office.

Netizens took to social media to express their opinions on Centineo’s casting as the legendary war hero.

One fan commented, “There's definitely stuff there that could make a good movie.” Another follower wrote, “A movie about how he got there could be compelling.”

As of now, neither Noah Centineo nor his representatives have officially commented on the announcement.
