The Emmy-winning British comedian John Oliver has recently mocked President Donald Trump’s White House roof stroll with a signature move by the beloved Peanuts character Snoopy.
On Sunday, Aug. 10, in an episode of Last Week Tonight, Oliver played a clip of Trump from Tuesday when he appeared on the roof of the White House.
Surrounded by Secret Service agents, the president caught the reporters present down below off guard.
When asked what he was doing up there, Trump said, “Taking a little walk… It’s good for your health.”
Trump noted that he was planning to build “something beautiful.”
“It’s just another way to spend my money for the country,” Trump replied when asked to clarify. “Anything I do is financed by me; in other words, contributed. Just like my salary is contributed, but nobody ever mentions that.”
Oliver joked further that, “It… says a lot about the chaos of this administration, that the president just fully Snoopied on national TV.”
The late-night show host showed side-by-side images of Trump atop the White House and Snoopy sitting on top of his red doghouse.
“We’ll probably forget about it by next week, and the thing is, it got even weirder,” Oliver added.
Oliver then showed footage of another reporter asking what he was “trying to build.” Trump shouted down: “Missiles… Nuclear missiles.”
When the reporter asked him to confirm he was building more missiles, Trump pumped his hand up and down at an angle to the side.
Oliver hinted that perhaps this could be a “perfect encapsulation of Trump’s presidency.”
“A bunch of people yelling, ‘What the fuck are you doing?’ while he does a C-minus Hitler impression,” Oliver said.
