Jamie Lee Curtis is sending a clear message to Freakier Friday’s harshest critics by directly responding to a savage review of the movie.
The 66-year-old took the liberty to shield the sequel from critic Stephanie Zacharek, who calls the movie “humiliating to everyone involved.”
In a post made by Time magazine, the outlet promotes the piece with an excerpt that quotes the commentator noting "No one, as far as we know, actually asked Disney for a sequel to 2003’s buoyant, surprisingly unsyrupy generation-gap comedy 'Freaky Friday.'"
The expert then slams the cult-classic’s follow-up by telling readers that it is full of poor costume design and has “zero added value.”
It continues, calling the movie a cash grab using people’s love for the original, even going as far as to say other sequels coming out around the same time are much better.
Under the scathing Instagram post, Curtis writes in response, “SEEMS a TAD HARSH. SOME people LOVE it. Me being one,” which seemed to be backed by other social media users in the comments.
Notably, Freakier Friday has received good audience scores on review websites and is also performing well at the box office.
Freakier Friday came out on August 8, 2025. The movie follows Tess and Anna after a time skip in which they discover that lightning may indeed strike twice.
