Saturday Night Live’s cold open is breaking the trend of James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump holding a press conference, instead making the setting a post-game show following the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament’s Final Four.

The segment did end up getting political, however, as it blended the premise with commentators such as Charles Barkley played by Kenan Thompson weighing in on recent political events.

One of the comedian’s hot-takes during the sketch was about the Artemis II space mission.

"They ain't even going to the moon! They're just flying around the moon. What's the point of that? It's like telling your kids you're going to Disney World, and then you just take them to Goofy Lot D and go home," he said.

Kenan’s Charles also reflected on the U.S.-Iran war, deeming it terrible and calling for its end despite acknowledging the possibility that it might get him fired.

"As attorney general, Pam Bondi was, and I don't say this often, terrible. It is a shame when somebody gets fired, but we should all be glad that that freckle-chested dragon lady is gone,” the SNL alum said, after making other non-sports related remarks.

Ashley Padilla’s Pam Bondi then joined the commentators’ mid-skit to defend herself, adding that she is proud to have made history being the first female attorney general to be fired.

Notably, Kenan also took jabs at other things such as the recent controversy surrounding former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's husband Bryon Noem.
