Meghan Markle’s fans and haters clash over her latest birthday post

Meghan Markle marked her 44th birthday this week, and while she did not post anything personal on her official Instagram account, her lifestyle brand As Ever shared a celebratory message that quickly sparked online debate.

As Ever posted a black-and-white portrait of Meghan wearing a dark dress and wide-brimmed hat, accompanied by a tribute to its founder, on August 4: “Celebrating the woman behind it all. She pours her heart, vision, and magic touch into every detail, and today, we raise a glass to her! Happy birthday to our founder @meghan.”

While the post received warm wishes from fans and supporters, it also drew criticism from some social media users who perceived it as Meghan publicly praising herself.

One user on X wrote: “Just as predicted - saying happy birthday to herself. This is 100% Markle talking about Markle. So corny.”

Another added: “It’s like giving yourself a high five.”

Some critics questioned whether the message was written by Meghan herself or simply approved by her. 

Others mocked the tone and visual style of the post, with one user saying: “The cringey black-and-white 'artsy' photo just makes it worse.”

However, not all responses were negative. Many fans defended the Duchess, praising her style, accomplishments, and brand.

“Happy birthday Queen!” one user wrote on Instagram. 

Another commented: “Happy birthday, dear Meghan. You have a beautiful family.”
