Blake Lively, who is suing her co-star Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment, fired back at the director’s team after deposition.
The 37-year-old actress has now returned with new claims about the defendant’s lawyer Bryan Freedman.
According to new complaint filed, Blake has demanded a sanction against Justin’s attorney Bryan, accusing him of making “improper out-of-court statements.”
She claims in the motion that the remarks were passed with an intention to “influence jurors.”
It is to be noted that filing for sanctions, in order to enforce obedience of law, can have several consequences on this legal crossfire.
They can result in monetary fines for violation of procedural rules, penalties and even dismissal of lawsuit.
It can also have an impact on the dynamic of the ongoing, high-profile case between the co-stars of the romantic drama.
This move came after the Betty Buzz owner appeared for her deposition which was reportedly followed by a motion from her team.
The Gossip Girls alum alleged that the other party is trying to garner attention by using it as their PR strategy.
As a result, they filed a request to remove the 292-page transcript of Blake’s deposition from court record, which remains under seal for now.
On the other hand, the It Ends With Us filmmaker’s attorneys maintain that there is no “plausible reason” to keep it away from public’s eye.
Earlier, Bryan has already received a warning from the judge for making claims about the actress and her friend Taylor Swift.
Judge Lewis Liman clearly stated that any further “misuse of the court’s docket” might result in being sanctioned.
