King Charles III's nephew, who is 19th in line to the throne, will marry the NHS paediatric nurse soon.
Peter and Harriet said in a joint statement: "Mr Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips and Ms Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today confirmed their official engagement."
The statement continued: "Both families were informed jointly of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement. The pair, who have not yet set a date for the wedding, had already informed the King and Queen as well as Prince William and his wife the Princess of Wales ahead of Friday's announcement.

Before the engagement, Harriet was introduced to King Charles other members of the royal family.
She was seen chatting with the monarch, his sister Zara and his cousin Princess Beatrice at Ascot after she travelled in the official carriage procession with senior royals.
Peter Phillips' fiancée is a pediatric nurse and freelance writer. The couple began dating in May 2024. She was first publicly linked to Phillips when they appeared hand‑in‑hand at the Badminton Horse Trials in Gloucestershire.
