It’s been a bruising week for Meghan Markle as her much-hyped Netflix show With Love, Meghan officially bombed, and now a PR expert is revealing exactly why the Duchess’s glossy lifestyle pivot failed to win hearts.
Despite a stylish debut in March, the duchess’s cooking and lifestyle series failed to stir any staying power.
The show plummeted to the 383rd spot in Netflix’s global rankings, pulling just 5.3 million views.
According to Renae Smith, founder of top-tier PR firm The Atticism, the answer is simple: the show was “doomed from the start.”
Speaking to the Express, Smith didn’t hold back: “Was I surprised her Netflix show flopped? Ah – not even slightly. I said from the start it would be rubberneck viewing.”
“Most would log in once just to see it, then never go back. Even fans are admitting they were finding it hard to watch.”
Smith explained: “Cooking shows work if you love the food or love the host, and she’s neither. A borrowed kitchen, average food, and lots of 'look how amazing my life is' chat! It was doomed from the start.”
Critics echoed similar sentiments, calling the series tone-deaf, overly curated, and lacking in authenticity.
