A bombshell new claim suggests Meghan Markle deliberately left behind a “trail of evidence” during her time in the Firm, receipts that would one day justify her and Prince Harry’s explosive departure from royal life.
According to royal author Valentine Low, whose book Courtiers dives into the inner workings of palace staff, Meghan’s actions weren’t just emotional responses, they were strategic moves.
He alleges that she ensured there was documented proof of how the palace “failed to support” her, particularly when it came to her mental health.
For example: Meghan’s heart-wrenching admission to Oprah Winfrey in 2021, where she revealed that life inside the palace became so isolating, she “didn’t want to be alive anymore.”
The interview shocked the world, and clearly wasn’t the first time she’d tried to voice her struggles.
But Low claims that while some palace staff, including Sir Clive Alderton (King Charles’ private secretary), attempted to publicly push back against the idea that the Sussexes were neglected, it was already too late.
Meghan had “hijacked the narrative,” Low says, “by making it all about her mental health.”
Meghan and Harry announced their intention to step down in January 2020, sealing the deal with a now-infamous Instagram post about carving out a “progressive new role.”
