Queen Camilla feared no one would show up to her wedding with King Charles: expert

Queen Camilla’s royal wedding came with one fashion regret she apparently couldn’t keep to herself.

Camilla Parker Bowles officially wed Prince Charles in a historic ceremony years in the making on April 5, 2005.

But behind the smiles and royal fanfare, the bride had one very candid thought as she stepped into the spotlight.

According to Lip Reading The Royals: The Secret Conversations, a Channel 5 documentary that dissected footage from the day, Camilla was caught muttering to her new husband a brutally honest six-word remark: “I wish I hadn’t had feathers.”

Reportedly, Charles replied with a dry, “They look awful.”

The infamous headpiece, a dramatic Philip Treacy fascinator, almost took flight as a gust of wind swept through the chapel steps at St. George’s Chapel, threatening to turn a regal moment into full-blown fashion chaos. It was just one of many challenges the couple faced that day.

As commentator Daisy McAndrew noted in the same documentary, Queen Camilla was also battling nerves.

“She was terrified no one would show up,” McAndrew revealed.

After all, Camilla was long painted as the other woman in the public saga of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
