King Charles's subtle warning to Queen Camilla caught on camera in Rome

King Charles was caught giving a gentle but worrying warning to Queen Camilla as the royal couple arrived in Rome for their two-day state visit to the Vatican, according to a lip reader.

The King and Queen touched down at Ciampino Airport on Wednesday evening, beginning a historic trip that would see Charles become the first British monarch to pray alongside the Pope since the Reformation.

But as the couple stepped off the plane, lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling told Betfair Casino that the King appeared to caution his wife, saying: “You ought to be careful going down the steps.”

Ironically, just moments later, the monarch briefly lost his footing before quickly recovering and continuing to greet officials.

The royal couple were welcomed by Christopher Trott, British Ambassador to the Holy See, and Monsignor Javier Domingo Fernandez Gonzalez, the Vatican’s Head of Protocol.

In lighter moments, Hickling claims Charles joked with an official, saying: “You have the same name as me, you’re also a Charles. Marvellous journey!”

The King then added warmly, “It’s wonderful to be able to come back to Rome, and what a warm welcome.”
