Meghan Markle’s 2018 royal wedding had the world swooning over her Hollywood glam. But according to one royal expert, those A-listers weren’t just there to party, they were part of a plan.
In her royal tell-all The Palace Papers, author Tina Brown claims the Duchess of Sussex strategically curated her guest list to include not just friends, but “the people she most wanted to recruit.”
From George and Amal Clooney to Oprah Winfrey, Idris Elba, Victoria and David Beckham, and even Kris Jenner, Meghan’s St George’s Chapel guest list was dripping in celebrity sparkle.
But according to Brown, it wasn’t just a show of support, it was a networking goldmine.
“The celebrity guests were a portrait not of Meghan’s intimate circle but of the friends she most wanted to recruit,” Brown wrote.
Despite their now-famous sit-down interview, Meghan and Harry reportedly had only met Oprah once before the wedding.
Later, when Access Hollywood quizzed the Clooneys about their attendance, George played coy.
“I can’t tell you that,” he said about how they knew the couple. Amal added, “We are really happy for the bride and groom.”
