Turns out, the royal wedding wasn’t just about tiaras and tradition, guests had to mind their words, too.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s official wedding photographer, Alexi Lubomirski, just spilled a juicy behind-the-scenes detail about the couple’s 2018 Windsor Castle nuptials, and it’s going viral on TikTok.

According to Lubomirski, guests arriving at the ceremony were met with an unexpected (and kind of intense) warning from palace guards.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please be careful what you are saying to each other because the world can lip read,” guards reportedly announced to guests as they were being seated.

In his TikTok post, Lubomirski cheekily demonstrated how guests reacted, raising his hand to partially cover his mouth and saying: “As you walk in, you see a lot of people sort of talking like this.”

The revelation has sparked renewed interest in the high-profile ceremony, which was broadcast to millions around the globe.

It also confirms just how tightly controlled, and closely watched, royal events really are, even for those inside the castle walls.

Lubomirski, a favourite of the Sussexes, was handpicked to shoot both their engagement and wedding portraits, including the now-iconic black-and-white photo of the couple sitting on the steps of Windsor Castle post-ceremony.

When did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get married?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were married on May 19, 2018, at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

The wedding drew high-profile guests, including celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney, and featured a stirring sermon by Reverend Michael Curry, reflecting the couple's desire to bring a fresh, inclusive spirit to the royal family.
