HBO revealed cast of important supporting characters for the upcoming Harry Potter series, and ever since, the cast members have been facing severe criticism.

The casting includes John Lithgow, Paapa Essiedu, Janet McTeer, Nick Frost, Paul Whitehouse, and Luke Thallon for different characters.

One of the notable characters and the wizard Voldemort in the Harry Potter series, Albus Dumbledore, is set to be played by Oscar-nominated actor known for The Crown John Lithgow.

Though since the announcement of his character was made, people doubted if he would perform and do justice to the Dumbledore character. The major doubts are because Lithgow is an American and Dumbledore is an English character.

“I will be following the great Michael Gambon.” Said The Crown actor, John Lithgow, while talking to the BBC, ”I’m not an Englishman, although I’ve played one on TV. I remind everyone that I did play Winston Churchill on The Crown and did just fine."

The American actor is confident and assures audiences that he’ll “give his best for the role.”

Previous month In March, John Lithgow announced his character in the Harry Potter series. He seemed pretty confident as he spoke, and today, in BBC’s The One Show, Lithgow agreed that he might not be an Englishman, but he will do his best.

“But yes, I mean, it’s an enormous thrill. But I know there were plenty of people appalled that an American should be hired to play the ultimate English wizard. But, I will do my best," The Crown star further added.
