Before becoming a duchess and mom of two, Meghan Markle wasn’t afraid to keep it real—especially when it came to her personal habits.
In a now-archived post from her former lifestyle blog, The Tig, Meghan candidly revealed her New Year’s resolutions for 2016—just months before she met Prince Harry.
Her goals were: “Run a marathon. Stop biting my nails. Stop swearing. Re-learn French.”
“These make up my New Year's resolution list nearly every year (AKA actually every),” she joked.
Meghan admitted her attempts had mixed results: “The marathon hasn’t happened. The swearing comes in lulls—triggered by being overworked or feeling mighty cheeky after a couple of drinks.”
She even poked fun at herself over her ongoing nail-biting habit, writing: “It still happens with a turbulent flight or a stressful day. It’s unladylike. But then again, so is the swearing. Dammit.”
The former Suits star also confessed to struggling with her French, despite years of study: “I have put my little Rosetta Stone headset in my eager ears every year… but much to my chagrin, it hasn’t stuck.”
“My New Year's resolution is to leave room for magic,” she wrote. “To make my plans, and be okay if they sometimes break. To set my goals, but to be open to change.”
