Prince William to take on new role as Godfather ahead of royal baby's arrival

Prince William is set to take on a new role as a godfather, as the Duke and Duchess of Westminster have officially announced that they are expecting their first child this summer.

In a statement released on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the couple shared their excitement about starting a family together: "The Duke and Duchess of Westminster are very pleased to share that the Duchess is expecting a baby in the summer. The couple are delighted with the news and are very much looking forward to starting a family together."

Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, maintains a close friendship with both Prince William and Prince Harry. He is already a godfather to Prince George and Prince Archie, further strengthening his ties to the royal family. His own godfather is King Charles, while his mother, Natalie, serves as Prince William’s godmother.

At the Duke of Westminster’s wedding to Olivia Henson on June 7, 2024, Prince William played the role of an usher, while Prince Harry was notably absent. According to sources cited by People, Harry turned down the invitation due to an "understanding" between the two friends.
